Event Details

A full day of touring begins with the first stop at the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute which is considered a "living institution" that depicts the lessons of the past.  The second stop is at Kelly Ingram Park which serves as the gateway to the Civil Rights District with sculptures reflecting police dog and fire hose attacks on demonstrators.  The afternoon tour includes a stop by Sixteenth Street Baptist Church which is known for being bombed by Ku Klux Klansmen and the killing of four little girls while they were preparing for Sunday morning worship service.  The tour ends with dinner at Dreamland BarBQue (on your own) followed by a late evening return to Middle Georgia.
